His Majesty The King gracefully presided over the momentous Passing Out Parade of the Gyalsung Training 2026 Batch (Cohort 2) held at the Gyalsung Academy in Khotokha, Wangdue Phodrang, marking a proud milestone for the nation. Addressing the graduating Gyalsups across all four premier Gyalsung Academies directly from Khotokha, His Majesty eloquently highlighted that Gyalsung stands as one of Bhutan’s most extraordinary national achievements, brought to life through the unwavering, wholehearted support of the people and a shared, resolute determination to secure a prosperous, resilient future for coming generations. Reflecting on the enduring legacy of the program, His Majesty spoke fondly of the future generations of Bhutanese who will follow in the proud footsteps of today’s Gyalsups, describing Gyalsung itself as an invaluable third family for every participant—complementing the families of their birth and the cherished bonds of lifelong friends, mentors, and spouses built along life’s journey. Furthermore, His Majesty expressed profound gratitude to the citizens of Bhutan, offering special appreciation to the dedicated parents whose continuous encouragement and support made the training a resounding success. The historic Passing Out Parade was conducted simultaneously across all designated regional academies, including Pemathang, Gyalpozhing, and Jamtsholing, graced by high-ranking dignitaries such as Opposition Leader Dasho Pema Chewang at Pemathang, Royal Privy Council Chairperson Lyonpo Dr. Tandin Dorji at Gyalpozhing, and National Council Chairperson Thrizin Sangay Dorji at Jamtsholing, alongside Venerable Lopens of the Zhung Dratshang, Cabinet Ministers, senior armed forces officials, foreign dignitaries, and proud families. A remarkable total of 2,847 young men and women successfully completed their rigorous training during this ceremony—including 25 inspiring cadets who traveled back from abroad specifically to participate—making this 2026 batch the largest single cohort trained since the inception of the Gyalsung initiative in 2024 and bringing the cumulative national total of trained Gyalsups to an impressive 12,707.
