Health Minister Tandin Wangchuk reassured that the ministry has put strong measures in place to uphold high standards of patient care while fostering the professional development of young medical workers in response to growing concerns about the departure of seasoned medical professionals and the growing reliance on younger, less experienced staff. During the 11th meet-the-press event, Lyonpo was answering a question about how the ministry was making sure that these younger professionals did not make serious medical mistakes.

When errors do happen, Lyonpo promised that they are carefully examined in accordance with accepted norms, and that corrective procedures and accountability mechanisms are put in place to stop them from happening again. According to the health minister, the ministry is dedicated to enhancing patients’ health and well-being by fostering an atmosphere in healthcare that encourages professional growth and superior service delivery. Lyonpo voiced confidence in the procedures and processes in place to help the upcoming generation of medical professionals become competent and skilled experts, even in the face of the loss of seasoned staff.
