The Department of Tourism, Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Employment of the Kingdom of Bhutan is happy to announce the official opening of the ICP in Darranga, Tamulpur, Assam, India. With this official opening, all travelers can enter and exit Bhutan through Samdrup Jongkhar to discover the hidden beauties of the eastern region. Samdrup Jongkhar, located in the east, provides as a gateway to eastern Bhutan’s picturesque valleys, including Trashigang, Trashi Yangtse, Mongar, Lhuentse, and Pema Gatshel. These valleys are renowned for their stunning natural vistas, vibrant cultural heritage, and welcoming hospitality. The eastern area of Bhutan provides good chances for cultural exploration, with spiritually significant places placed in picturesque settings.

Visitors can visit the famed pilgrimage site Chorten Kora in Trashiyangtse, as well as the 154-foot bronze statue of Guru Padmasambhava in Lhuentse. Exploring these destinations helps guests gain a better knowledge of Bhutan’s rich cultural heritage and allows them to connect more deeply with the country’s traditions. Damcho Rinzin stated that it is a significant milestone in tourism history, as well as good news for the industry.
