Dasho After serving as Prime Minister for five years, Dr. Lotay Tshering has resigned as President of Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa (DNT), capping an 11-year political career. Following his nomination as Governor of the Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC) in October of last year, he resigned in order to take on more responsibility. Tshering said he was fortunate to be involved in such a big project and highlighted Bhutan’s tremendous development and revolutionary projects like the GMC project. He said he wanted to use DNT and the special governance experience of the Covid-19 pandemic to help the nation.

Dasho Bhutan’s governor, Dr. Lotay Tshering, has vowed to serve his king, nation, and people till the end of his life. He underlined that as a political party and an organization that realizes national aspirations, the DNT still has a long way to go. Lotay will oversee the GMC strategy’s domestic execution, making sure that its advancement is consistent with His Majesty’s vision and Bhutanese values. In addition to leading sustainability initiatives, he will supervise internal operations and manage infrastructure, policy, and local execution. The DNT pledged to help Lotay in his future undertakings and took delight in their joint achievements.

Dasho One of the best leaders of our time is Dr. Lotay Tshering, a former consultant urologist at JDWNRH. He entered politics after leaving the civil service in 2013, holding positions as prime minister in the third democratically elected government and president of the DNT. For his work during the Covid-19 pandemic, Tshering received the Dasho title and the Lungmar scarf in 2020. He was born in 1969 and was awarded the 14th Dalai Lama’s Unsung Hero of Compassion award in 1991, along with the Father William Mackey Gold Medal for academic performance.
