The Royal University of Bhutan will introduce its first Artificial Intelligence undergraduate program from 2026, aligning with the kingdom’s digital transformation goals.
The course will focus on machine learning, robotics, and ethical AI, with collaboration from international universities, including institutions in India and the UK. The announcement has sparked interest from students across the Eastern Himalayas, including those in Sikkim and Assam.
This marks a major step for Bhutan’s higher education sector, which aims to retain talent and build tech-driven employment pathways. Local IT firms and government agencies will offer internship placements under the initiative.
