The Bhutanese government has announced an expansion of its National Organic Mission, aiming to create 5,000 green jobs by 2027. The focus is on rural youth, who will receive training in sustainable farming, agri-tech, and organic certification.
Partnering with Indian NGOs and UN agencies, Bhutan is building organic hubs in Paro, Samtse, and Trashigang. The produce will be exported to regional markets, including India and Bangladesh.
This initiative could also support similar efforts in Sikkim, known for its own organic journey, and in the Northeast, where agri-jobs are vital for rural economies.
