FMCL and DoA are constructing 15 mega greenhouses worth Nu 84.9 million to boost food security and promote farm mechanisation, productivity, and youth employment through co-operative farming. After a memorandum of understanding was signed on March 18 of this year, the project started to take shape. Currently, financial distribution has reached 28%, while physical progress is at 38%. The Chirub Farm, featuring 15 mega greenhouses and expansive open fields, is set to produce 324 metric tonnes of vegetables and 14 metric tonnes of fruits annually.
De-suung and dzongkhag administrations are developing farms, recruiting interested De-suups for early establishment and training in greenhouse automation. By June 2026, De-suups will take over full operation. De-suung Headquarters has obtained a Land User Certificate for farms, with land development activities underway at Samrang Chirub Farm and Pemathang Chirub Farm, and plans for additional establishments.
