Bhutan has announced that it will roll out a formal National Organic Certification program by 2026, furthering its goal to become the world’s first fully organic farming nation.
The initiative will establish strict inspection systems, quality grading, and international export pathways. Officials say this will increase farm incomes while preserving environmental balance.
Given Bhutan’s close trade and agriculture ties with India and Bangladesh, the new certification standard is expected to create new export opportunities and influence regional organic farming policies.
