Bhutan has unveiled six new eco-tourism trails across its central and eastern regions to promote sustainable travel while generating income for remote communities. The initiative, launched by the Tourism Council of Bhutan, focuses on off-the-beaten-path areas, integrating homestays and cultural experiences.

Tourists can trek through pristine forests, ancient monasteries, and alpine meadows, guided by locals trained in conservation and first aid. The project is expected to attract nature-loving travellers from India, Europe, and North America.

Tourism boards in Nepal and India are evaluating similar models that blend sustainability with community empowerment, fostering a new regional tourism narrative beyond traditional hotspots.
