In a blend of tradition and technology, Bhutan’s Ministry of Home Affairs has unveiled its “Digital Dzong” project, which aims to equip ancient monasteries with internet connectivity and e-learning tools.

The project, initially launching in Trashigang and Mongar, will allow monks and students to access religious texts, language courses, and even virtual debates with monastic institutions in India and Nepal.

The cultural-tech convergence is attracting interest from digital heritage groups in Sikkim and Northeast India, who see potential in replicating this digital preservation model.
