Samdrupjongkhar is increasing its attempts to establish eastern Bhutan as a travel destination by creating additional entrance and departure ports for foreign visitors. In order to do this, the Dzongkhag government launched “SAMJONG,” a new tourist brand that aims to fully realize the Dzongkhag’s tourism potential. The Integrated Borvilla Park, the Tsho Duen Eco-tourism development, the Kalyoen Yongba Hiking Trail, bird-watching packages, homestays, and eco-friendly campsites are just a few of the tourist items that the dzongkhag is creating under this new program.

By emphasizing tourist infrastructure and distinctive ecotourism offerings that support local people and safeguard the environment, the SAMJONG brand will spearhead these initiatives. The development of tourism has been given a total budget of Nu 298.84 million. As of December of last year, 113 local and 41 foreign visitors paid the Sustainable Development Fee to access Samdrupjongkhar at the Darranga entrance point in Assam.
