Bhutan’s Ministry of Health has partnered with the Education Ministry and monastic institutions to launch a new mental health campaign targeting students and young adults. The initiative, titled “Mindful Youth, Strong Nation,” is being rolled out in 300 schools and 50 monasteries.

Workshops, meditation sessions, and counselling services are being offered to help students cope with stress, digital addiction, and exam pressure. Suicide rates among youth in South Asia, including Bhutan, have been rising steadily, prompting regional efforts.

The campaign, while Bhutan-specific, is relevant to audiences in Nepal, Sikkim, and northern West Bengal, where similar socio-cultural dynamics exist. Indian educators have praised Bhutan’s holistic and culturally grounded approach to youth wellness.
