ST Motors debuted Bhutan’s first luxury electric pickup, the Riddara RD6, in Thimphu on November 9. The high-end Riddara RD6 has a 400-kilometer range, a 220-mm ground clearance, and a 63-kwh battery. After a decrease of Nu 200,000, the current price is Nu 3.65 million. Sangay Tsheltrim, the owner of ST Motors, stated that the main purpose for bringing the Riddara to Bhutan is to help Bhutan meet its promise to carbon neutrality. He stated that with the government pushing electric vehicles by offering free charging stations and levying no taxes, it is critical to bring the top brands in the world to Bhutan for customers.
He stated that if Bhutan wants to remain carbon-negative, it must find ways to minimize emissions while also leading in sustainable development. Electric cars are critical to the mission. Riddara demonstrates our shared commitment to a greener, cleaner Bhutan. ST Motors will also offer new cutting-edge technologies and major Chinese brands, such as GAC, Avatr, Neta, King Long, MG SAIC Motors, Maxus SAIC Motors, Dayun, KYC, and Xpeng. Younten Phuntsho, Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, was the guest of honor at the event. Adel Al-Jassam, Kuwait’s ambassador to Bhutan, attended the event, as did members of the royal family, previous ministers, and government officials.
