With an overall advancement rate of 76%, the Norbugang Industrial Park in Samtse has seen an acceleration in development. The project, which is nearing completion and is valued at Nu 489.9 million, is anticipated to support the nation’s growing industrial licensing portfolio, which saw the issuance of more than 5,800 new licenses last year. The Norbugang Industrial Park, which will contain 15 industrial plots, is being built by the Bhutanese government. With ten plots allocated as of April, four industries are anticipated to begin operations this month and two more by the end of the year. The park has the necessary support infrastructure in place.
Although persistent monsoon rains have left some areas muddy and waterlogged, the park’s road infrastructure—including drainage, expansion, blacktopping, and bridge construction—is making progress. 22 industries are already operating in the Dhamdhum Industrial Park, which was opened in February, and another 26 are being built. With a budget of Nu 2.6 billion, the project, which is a component of a broader national program, consists of more than 361 kilometers of new construction and road modifications. However, seasonal difficulties and coordination problems have caused delays for several components.
