Following a four-day State Visit that included a display of Bhutanese crafts, culture, and conservation initiatives, Thailand’s King and Queen left Bhutan with full honours at Paro International Airport. Bhutanese school students welcomed visiting royals, waving national flags and offering flowers. They were formally received at Tashichhodzong, Tendrelthang, and Tendrelthang. On April 26, they accompanied Thailand to Kuenselphodrang for a special prayer ceremony. Thailand and Bhutan held a symbolic event for the King and Queen’s well-being, with 74 monks offering prayers. They also visited Dechenchholing to view an exhibition showcasing Royal Project initiatives. Bhutanese games and crafts were also showcased.

Their Royal Highnesses Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck, Prince Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, and Prince Ugyen Jigme Wangchuck welcomed Their Majesties when they travelled to Kaja Throm. Cultural performances and skill demonstrations were given by DeSuups from several De-suung Skilling Program courses. During their tour of the market, Their Majesties saw Bhutanese farmers’ and craftspeople’s handcrafted handicrafts and local produce. Their Majesties the King and Queen of Thailand were greeted with flags and tearful farewells yesterday as thousands of students, educators, parents, and locals lined the way to Paro. The first official state visit by the Thai monarch to Bhutan, the State Visit by His Majesty the King of Thailand, represents the strong ties of friendship and shared ideals between the two countries.
