A nearly halfway completed project in Tsirang Toed Gewog aims to provide consistent water supply to 8,500 people, benefiting 2,700 households and institutions. Tsirang Toed Gewog and Phuentenchu Gewog are collaborating on a shared project to improve water supply in the area, as population growth and increased demand for water become a concern. The project aims to address the issue of water scarcity and drought, ensuring a steady supply for drinking, hygiene, and daily household needs. The project, once completed, will enhance residents’ quality of life, support school and healthcare operations, and provide safe drinking water, significantly enhancing their lives. The project aims to provide a reliable drinking water supply and improve hygiene in the community, addressing the increasing population and drying up existing sources. It will ensure a steady supply and maintain hygiene in homes, schools, and hospitals.
The project is expected to be finished by February of next year, having started in February of last year. At a cost of about Nu 120 million, it is financed by the Adaptation Fund via the Bhutan Trust Fund for Environmental Conservation. Along with helping locals, the project will also help public organizations like hospitals and schools.
