Team Cyberchain and Team DeepGov won an international hackathon, developing Decentralized Applications powered by Bhutan’s NDI. Team Cyberchain’s platform, ZorigHub, connects local artisans with authentic buyers, while Team DeepGov presented an Al-assisted civil governance system. A hackathon in Bhutan aimed to foster innovation in the digital identity field, attract international participants, and advance Bhutan’s position in the global digital identity space. The winners, NGN and Form BT, were awarded USD 3, 000 or Nu 250,000, sponsored by the Ethereum Foundation, along with a glamping experience sponsored by GovTech.
The teams presented LandChain, a project to streamline land transfers using Bhutan NDI, and Form BT, an Al-powered Optical Character Recognition solution to rapidly digitize paper forms. All participating teams received Nu 500, 000 through incubation centers. A hackathon involving 13 Bhutanese and international teams focused on decentralised identity and blockchain technologies was held to test new innovations and propel Bhutan’s position in the space. The event, guided by global experts, aimed to establish a global decentralised community and showcase the potential of Bhutan’s NDI or other decentralised technologies.
