The Tsirang District Administration has started construction of a Nu 34 million Economic Hub on more than 8.6 acres of land in Damphu to boost local trade, tourism and community activities.
The project, scheduled for completion in August next year, will be developed in phases. The first phase includes site development, a market shed for 16 farmers, a café, a steel truss footbridge and canopies. Farmers selected by gewog administrations will sell organic produce at the market, while the café will be leased through an Expression of Interest process. Future phases will add a viewing deck, open-air theatre, walkways, landscaped gardens, gazebos and other public amenities.
Residents have welcomed the initiative, saying it will create economic opportunities for farmers and youth, provide a convenient stop for travellers and strengthen tourism in the district. Officials said the hub is expected to complement Tsirang’s growing tourism sector by offering visitors a central space to shop, relax and explore local products.
