Effort to enhance the health and wellbeing of mothers and children nationwide MoH launched the AMCHP on February 21. Through improved access to healthcare services, especially during first 1,000 days of a child’s life, initiative will improve maternal and child health outcomes. Along with other govt representatives, development partners important stakeholders, Health Minister Tandin Wangchuk officially launched the program. All districts in the nation will see an increase in the use of maternal, newborn, child health, and nutrition services thanks to the AMCHP. Program will ensure that expectant mothers receive the care they need from conception until their child turns two by raising awareness and encouraging positive health-seeking behavior.

Giving socially and economically disadvantaged women conditional cash transfers to help them access necessary maternity and child healthcare is a major component of the program. The time their child turns two, pregnant women who routinely go to the hospital for checkups will receive financial aid that could total almost Nu 49,000. Their financial burden will be lessened as they are eligible to receive Nu 1,500 for each hospital visit.

In order to strengthen the notion that maternal and child health is not only a government priority but also a shared responsibility of families, communities, and the country as a whole, this financial empowerment component seeks to increase women’s economic independence. The program was funded by a USD 2.8 million grant from the Japan Social Development Fund, with the World Bank being instrumental in raising the money.
