Thousands of devotees have converged at the sacred Gangteng Shedra in Wangdue Phodrang for the commencement of a historic, month-long grand ceremony featuring the Oral Transmission and Empowerments of Terton Pema Lingpa’s revered Dharma Cycle, marking a momentous spiritual gathering as a religious event of this magnificent scale has not been hosted at Gangteng for nearly two decades. Presided over by the Ninth Gangteng Truelku, this monumental gathering draws over 7,000 participants—including esteemed Truelkus, Lams, Khenpos, monks, nuns, and international disciples who have traveled from far and wide—all uniting to preserve and strengthen the profound teachings of the treasure revealer Terton Pema Lingpa and pass this sacred lineage seamlessly on to future generations. Highlighting the multifaceted significance of the holy assembly, Khenchhen Jigme Wangchuk, chairperson of the event committee, noted that the ceremony is being held in response to repeated petitions from devoted followers to promote Buddhism, pray for the prosperous development of the visionary Gelephu Mindfulness City envisioned by His Majesty The King, and invoke enduring peace and harmony throughout the nation. For attending pilgrims like Adhap Chhador, Sangay Lhadon, and Tandin Wangmo, who journeyed across districts for days, this rare occasion represents a once-in-a-lifetime blessing to connect with a precious spiritual lineage that eluded even previous generations, instilling deep gratitude and fulfillment. As the sacred transmissions continue through the month until concluding on the twenty-sixth, the vibrant congregation at Gangteng stands as a powerful testament to the enduring strength of Bhutanese cultural heritage, collective devotion, and the unbroken continuity of ancient Buddhist traditions in modern times.
