Khenda Adventure, Panbang’s first private eco-tourism and rafting company, is emerging as a key attraction for adventure seekers visiting the gateway to Royal Manas National Park.
Founded in October 2024 by 42-year-old Ugyen Tshering, popularly known as ‘Khenda,’ the company offers eco-friendly rafting, kayaking, camping, fly fishing, and cultural experiences along the Drangme Chhu and Mangde Chhu rivers. Tshering, a former member of the community-run River Guides of Panbang, launched the venture to promote sustainable tourism while fulfilling his late father’s wish to contribute to the development of his ancestral home.
The company operates multi-day rafting expeditions through Bhutan’s largest river system, combining wilderness camping, wildlife viewing, and guided adventures. It also offers the Panbang Day Float, a family-friendly rafting experience, along with access to Royal Manas National Park, Bhutan’s oldest and one of its most biodiverse protected areas.
Located at the confluence of the Mangde Chhu and Drangme Chhu rivers, Panbang is gaining recognition as an emerging ecotourism destination. Its pristine forests, rich wildlife, and untouched river landscapes provide visitors with a unique blend of adventure and conservation, making it one of Bhutan’s most promising nature tourism hubs.
