Bhutan’s Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay extended warm congratulations to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on behalf of His Majesty the King, the Royal Government, and the people of Bhutan. The message came as PM Modi marked a historic milestone by becoming India’s longest continuously serving elected Prime Minister, completing 12 years (4,399 days) in office.
In an emotional letter shared on social media platform X, PM Tobgay referred to PM Modi as his “friend, brother, and mentor,” fondly using the term “Bara Bhai” (elder brother) to describe their bond. Tobgay recalled their first interaction in 2014 and noted that their personal relationship, built on trust and mutual respect, has strengthened the strategic partnership between Bhutan and India. He praised PM Modi’s work ethic, leadership, and unwavering support for Bhutan’s developmental goals and future aspirations.
