In a significant move to bolster cross-border renewable energy cooperation, Tata Power has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bhutan’s Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC). The strategic partnership, signed in Thimphu, establishes a robust skill development framework aimed at building a highly skilled local workforce for Bhutan’s ambitious 5,000 MW clean energy capacity expansion.
Under this agreement, the Tata Power Skill Development Institute (TPSDI) will act as the core technical partner. TPSDI is set to provide state-of-the-art training infrastructure, specialized courseware, accreditation support, and technical expertise. On the other hand, DGPC will lead the mobilization of trainees and seamlessly coordinate program implementation with local Bhutanese authorities.
Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD of Tata Power, emphasized that the partnership aims to cultivate a sustainable talent ecosystem for Bhutan’s rapidly growing clean energy sector. He highlighted that TPSDI will equip professionals with vital skills in safe operations, emerging technologies, and operations and maintenance (O&M).
