Piracy remains a major challenge for both the Indian film industry and Hollywood. Christopher Nolan’s film ‘The Odyssey’ has also fallen victim to online piracy. Despite being released just a week ago, reports indicate that the film was leaked and spread rapidly across various social media platforms. Recently, a low-quality version was posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday morning; however, according to The Hollywood Reporter, it was taken down after about two hours, having garnered approximately 50,000 views. In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter regarding the leak, Universal Pictures said, “We became aware of the unauthorized posting of the film and immediately initiated the process to have it removed. We take copyright infringement seriously and will take all appropriate steps to protect our content and intellectual property rights.” Despite falling victim to piracy, ‘The Odyssey’ is making waves at the box office, having grossed over $600 million worldwide by its second weekend. Based on Homer’s ancient Greek epic, the film depicts King Odysseus’s (Matt Damon) perilous journey back to Ithaca following the Trojan War. It features battles against mythical creatures as he attempts to reunite with his wife, Penelope (Anne Hathaway), and son, Telemachus (Tom Holland).
