The Electoral Commission has formally confirmed that both Local Government (LG) and Parliamentary elections will proceed as planned in the Gelephu Mindfulness City Special Administrative Region (GMC-SAR). The announcement settles recent deliberations over electoral protocols within the newly structured region, reaffirming that democratic representation will remain uninterrupted for all residents.

According to the commission, the administrative framework of the GMC-SAR will not impede the rights of citizens to participate in upcoming electoral cycles. Electoral authorities clarified that necessary adjustments regarding constituency boundary delineations, voter registry updates, and polling logistics are actively being tailored to align seamlessly with the region’s governance model. Citizens residing in the designated zones will retain their full rights to elect both their local leaders and parliamentary representatives in accordance with established constitutional mandates.

The electoral body further assured the public that comprehensive arrangements are underway to guarantee a transparent, accessible, and efficient voting process. Regional administration teams and key stakeholders have been directed to coordinate closely to facilitate public awareness campaigns and voter support well ahead of the official polling schedules.
