His Royal Highness Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck, the president of the Bhutan Olympic Committee, attended yesterday’s groundbreaking ceremony for the Rama Centre of Excellence for Cricket and Shooting at Chang Rama in Thimphu. The Rama Centre of Excellence will be a top-notch institution designed to develop elite shooters and cricket players. Phases of the development will take place, with the first phase, which will concentrate on key sports infrastructure, expected to be finished in three to four years. With a budget of Nu 667 million, the center was funded under the Bhutan-India Friendship Project and is expected to establish Bhutan as a regional shooting and cricket hotspot. It is positioned to become a pillar of bilateral relations between the two countries.

Sudhakar Dalela, the Indian ambassador to Bhutan, emphasized how strongly he supports the project. According to him, the center has enormous potential to promote regional collaboration and give Bhutanese youngsters worthwhile possibilities. The center has the revolutionary potential to develop Bhutan’s future sports talent and establish the nation as a global hub for sporting excellence, according to the president of Bhutan Cricket. The Rama Centre of Excellence, according to athletes and sports fans, will aid in luring and promoting young people to participate in sports. They claimed that one of the main problems with sports growth has been a lack of adequate infrastructure and that having a facility of this kind will greatly raise the standard of sports in Bhutan. There aren’t many sporting venues in Bhutan that can conduct regional competitions.
