After nearly two years of intensive preparation, Bhutan’s three-member recurve archery team is set to compete in both individual and team events at the Asian Games in Japan, beginning with the ranking round this Saturday. Led by head coach Yeshi Dema, the squad features seasoned veteran Kinley Tshering (35), a multi-medalist with recent gold wins at the 2025 Gyeyang Open and 2026 WAA President’s Challenge Cup; Paris 2024 Olympian Lam Dorji (31), who holds a personal best of 664 points; and 22-year-old rising talent Sonam Penjor. To sharpen consistency and build resilience under pressure, the team underwent rigorous daily routines, a 24-day closed camp in Punakha, a week-long stint in Bangladesh, and target simulations designed for mental conditioning, technical refining, and weather adaptation tailored to Japan’s hot and rainy climate. Unified and confident in their training, the archers aim to translate years of dedicated preparation into podium contention and bring pride to their nation on the international stage.
