Bhutan’s Ministry of Tourism has launched five new eco-tourism zones across Punakha, Trongsa, and Trashiyangtse districts. These trails will connect remote villages, promote homestays, and offer nature-based activities like birdwatching and trekking.
The initiative aims to boost community income while preserving Bhutan’s rich biodiversity. Officials are coordinating with local governments to ensure sustainable tourism that avoids over-commercialization.
The move resonates with growing interest in responsible tourism from Indian and Bangladeshi travelers who prefer less-crowded, immersive travel experiences. Bhutan also plans cross-border packages in partnership with West Bengal tour operators.
