Assam state government improves Samthaibari-Gelephu road, vital for Bhutanese travelers and trade, reaching Datgari Market. According to Tshering Norbu, the upgraded roadway would boost cross-border travel, particularly from Indian districts that previously had difficulty getting to Gelephu. For the past few years, the Bhutan Export Association has taken the initiative to rehabilitate the 20-kilometer section of road from Datgari after consulting with its Indian equivalent.
