Global blockchain data and artificial intelligence company Nansen has formally opened its office in Thimphu, marking a significant step in its global expansion and efforts to develop a local talent base in Bhutan. Located at the Bhutan Youth Development Fund’s Nazhoen Pelri Complex, the office will serve as an initial base as the company works towards establishing a stronger presence in the Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC). Nansen Group CEO Alex Svanevik said the company aims to become one of the most desirable private-sector employers in Bhutan while building local expertise alongside its global talent pool. The company has already recruited four Bhutanese employees and launched the Nansen AI Talent Programme, through which three interns are currently gaining experience in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, with potential opportunities for future employment. Nansen is also looking to expand recruitment across areas including customer support, blockchain, compliance, data science, machine learning, AI and cybersecurity. Earlier this year, Nansen and GMC announced a strategic collaboration to establish an operational presence in GMC and support the development of a transparent, well-governed and institutionally aligned digital asset ecosystem. The partnership is expected to strengthen local expertise in blockchain analytics and enhance understanding of on-chain activity. Nansen’s entry into Bhutan comes as the country continues to explore emerging technologies and positions GMC as an international hub for innovation, technology and digital assets.
