Panbang is rapidly emerging as one of Bhutan’s most promising ecotourism destinations, offering unforgettable rafting experiences along the Drangme Chhu and Mangde Chhu rivers near Royal Manas National Park. At the heart of this transformation is Khenda Adventure, the area’s first private eco-tourism and rafting company, founded by Ugyen Tshering, popularly known as “Khenda,” in October 2024.

Inspired by his late father’s wish to help develop his ancestral homeland, Ugyen left the community-run River Guides of Panbang to establish a venture that combines adventure with environmental conservation. Khenda Adventure offers rafting, kayaking, wilderness camping, fly fishing for the legendary golden mahseer, bamboo cottage stays, and cultural experiences in nearby villages.

The 11-kilometre rafting route on the Drangme Chhu takes visitors through untouched forests to the Bhutan-India border, where the river connects with Royal Manas National Park. The Drangme Chhu provides a scenic and family-friendly rafting experience, while the Mangde Chhu features stronger currents and more challenging rapids for experienced adventurers.

The company also operates multi-day rafting expeditions with certified guides, camping on remote riverbanks and opportunities to observe Bhutan’s rich biodiversity. With its pristine rivers, dense forests, and commitment to sustainable tourism, Panbang is becoming a unique destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike.
