Sherubtse College has established the University Students Leadership Development Centre, the first dedicated facility to provide formal leadership training for student leaders from colleges under the Royal University of Bhutan (RUB). The initiative aims to equip student leaders with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively manage their responsibilities while maintaining academic performance.

The inaugural week-long programme brought together 95 student leaders from RUB colleges across the country. Participants attended sessions on leadership, communication, decision-making, time management, meditation, and Driglam Namzha. The training was designed to strengthen leadership qualities, improve teamwork, and help students balance leadership duties with their studies.

Participants said the programme provided practical strategies to overcome common challenges faced by student leaders. Sherub Wangchuk from Gedu College of Business Studies said the training helped him understand effective time management and stress management, skills that will enable him to better support fellow students and benefit him throughout his life.

Jigme Yangchen from Paro College of Education said the programme highlighted the importance of self-motivation and inspiring others. She added that the lessons would help her encourage and support slow-learning students during teaching practice instead of giving up on them.

Alongside the inauguration of the centre, a leadership training course booklet was also launched. The new centre is expected to play a significant role in developing capable, confident, and responsible student leaders who can make meaningful contributions to their colleges and communities.
